Self Reflection

The Self Reflection Training Area offers a unique opportunity to bring greater insight to your work helping others by applying the core methods of Reflective Training to the practice of mindfulness meditation. Inspired by Shinzen Young’s system in The Science of Enlightenment, this Training Area focuses on cultivating three foundational mental skills—Concentration, Clarity, and Equanimity (CCE)—as they relate to sensory experience. Participants engage in guided attention practice, structured feedback and mutual reflection using the same learning principles that power other RT domains. Whether you’re new to meditation or a longtime practitioner, you’ll find a supportive, inclusive community focused on personal growth and insight.

All sessions are facilitated by volunteer coaches and rooted in the spirit of a self-sustaining, peer led learning community. Sessions are free to legitimate learners, and learners are welcome to donate to the learning community on behalf of the coach who led their practice session. RT provides the web platform and back-end technical support as a public service.

After learners have attended 12 sessions, they are encouraged to start coaching and to continue rotating roles over time, contributing to an atmosphere of mutual accountability and non-hierarchical growth. The language and structure of the Self Reflection program are designed to be accessible to people of all backgrounds, minimizing cultural jargon while maintaining depth and rigor. This is a space for shared practice, honest feedback, and deepening awareness through collective reflection.
