Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based intervention for depression and for a wide range of anxiety disorders. CBT is a relatively directive approach in which therapists teach clients to recognize dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors, to better notice when they are engaging in dysfunction, and to implement adaptive alternatives.
