Crisis Response Planning

A woman takes notes while a man gestures during a conversation in a therapy session.

Crisis Response Planning (CRP) is an evidence-based procedure for suicide risk assessment and safety planning. It uses non-directive elements in its narrative assessment approach and emphasis on helping clients to identify their own warning signs and coping strategies. CRP adds to these elements a structured, time-limited procedure that leaves the client with an improved understanding of the factors that place them at risk and the things they can do to make it through.
