Behavioral Activation

A person sits despondently in a dark room with a ladder leading to a bright opening above.

Behavioral Activation (BA) is one of the most scientifically-supported approaches for the treatment of depression. It focuses on helping the client to identify links between their behavior and their mood, and then to increase behaviors that are associated with feeling of pleasure and sense of accomplishment.

There are a wide range of high-quality books, online courses and in-person trainings through which you can learn the basics of BA. In Reflective Training, we follow the model developed by Dr. Christopher Martell and colleagues, which emphasizes structured goal-setting, activity monitoring, and gradual behavior changes to help clients re-engage with meaningful and rewarding aspects of their lives.
